Great article. I would just add, since you go into detail about Orwell's education, that his essay "Such, Such Were the Joys" reveals his absolute hatred and contempt for both of the schools he attended. This probably explains why he never went to college.

Writing this one was a kind of purge I have needed for a long time. Writing Orwell has always been on my bucket list, a kind of Camino, I have both dreaded and relished when it would finally be time to do.
We each have our own ways of dealing with what is happening to our world. For me, as things escalate I search for answers in how we have (or haven’t) come out of such circumstances before. I figured, if I ever got to George, it would mean things were… well. Enough said.
