Understandably so. As a visual artist, I've always been immensely proud of those early women painters who defied cultural constrictions and widened the world with their creative spirits.
I have quite a few of them in this series, and have written about them along the way. In essence, any time we have anyone from a Mary Cassat, Camille Claudel to a Joan Mitchell and Lee Krasner we have stories of creating in the shadows or being evaluated against their male counterparts.
We can ask when or how this may flip, but every time we get close, we find our way back, because of the overall power structure of society.
One wonders if a reboot of the ‘matrix’ where everyone is told there is no difference between the value of men and women from the get-go might do it. Since the globe itself does not currently maintain that balance of power in all cultures, my belief is there will always be a seepage of it back from one to one another.
Humanity always tends to want to know what’s going on ‘over there’ which might make it ‘better’ and taking the wrong turn!!! 🤦🏻♀️

You are very welcome—thank you for reading!
These three ladies are very dear friends of mine— my very first big paper when I was in 5th grade.
